A case has inserted itself into my angsty porn and is demanding solving. Now I want to know about the not-exsanguinated body, damn it!

Came to me this morning as I was getting ready for work, of course, when I won't be able to write the scene for hours and hours yet.

Donna and Eleven on the TARDIS. Donna's been texting back and forth with John Watson. (This will only make sense if you've read both stories in "The Two Doctors" so far.)

Cut for potential spoilers and because it's so rough draft as to be right off the top of my head. )

Title: "Displacement" (1/?)
Author: [personal profile] roane
Pairing(s): John/OFC
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 1,900
Warnings: Identity confusion, genderplay, some angst. WIP.
Summary:John's not ashamed of her, precisely. She's a perfectly lovely woman in her own right. Gorgeous, in fact. More than that even, the cause of some of the hottest sex he's ever had in his life. Which is precisely why he can't bring her home.
Author's Note: Extra thanks to [archiveofourown.org profile] roseredhoofbeats for the beta and the hand-holding. I have now officially posted smut on the internet. I hope you're all proud of yourselves.

Okay, so here's the deal. I work for an animal shelter, and our annual walk is coming up. In a rare moment of letting my RL and my fandom life collide, I'm asking for your support. Donate to my walk efforts, and I will give you something in return.

A donation of $5-20 gets a ficlet of your choice (up to 1,000 words) in the Sherlock or Doctor Who fandoms (or a crossover). A donation of $20 or over gets at least 2000 words of fic. Any characters, any pairings--although you really probably don't want me to venture past an R-rating, because I can't vouch for the quality. My AO3 page is here, if you want to see what I do first.

I can absolutely guarantee that my shelter is one of the good ones. We take in all animals that come to us from our area, and we save over 81% of them--the national average is about 50%. Any questions, I'll be happy to answer.

And you know what, I'll go one further. If you want to make a donation to your LOCAL animal shelter instead, send me a screenshot that you've done so, and any donation of $20 will get at least a ficlet, depending on my inspiration.

If you donate to my efforts, include a personal note when making your donation with your email address, and I'll get in touch.

The [community profile] fandom_helps auction for Planned Parenthood closes bidding today. I've actually put myself up for auction for fic here. It's for a good cause, and you can have a chance to make me do your bidding (er, pun not intended).

So I've been brainstorming quite a bit this weekend. I've got several stories lined up for my Doctor Who/Sherlock universe (tentative series title: "The Two Doctors"). No guarantees on timelines, but I'm eager to get to work on these.
  • "Mayhem in Mayfair" - A new case for Sherlock and John, involving some strange happenings in a posh corner of London. The boys are contacted by a Doctor Martha Jones of UNIT because she needs their help.
  • "The Third Doctor" - Donna and her new travels with the Doctor and the Ponds. Someone has got a bounty on Time Lords, and the TARDIS team needs to find out who.
  • "The Short, Strange Life of Doctor John Watson" - How John wound up where he is today.
  • "Texting and Scones" - Donna texts John while on her travels.
My brain is a very very happy place right now. :) I THINK "Mayhem in Mayfair" is next up, but I'm not certain yet.

Hm. Somewhere in here, I'm supposed to be writing original fiction for a writing contest. Deadline's the 25th.

Damn you, Sherlock fandom. Damn you all to hell for being so damned talented.

Two Two One Bravo Baker by abundantlyqueer: Nope. Don't read slash, don't like AUs. Nope. Except why did I devour this 110,000 word piece of AU casefic loaded with plenty of sex in less than 12 hours (including some time spent sleeping)? Seriously, I COULD NOT STOP READING.

Mycroft sends Sherlock to Afghanistan 7 months before the events of "A Study in Pink" to solve a war atrocity that threatens to bring down the British and American governments. Sherlock meets Captain John Watson and the rest of his squad and good lord there's a lot of sex. Well-written, makes-you-think-your-head-might-explode sex.

But the thing is, if the author isn't military, they've damn well done their homework. It does a fantastic job of putting you right there in Afghanistan with the British military. I have never read anything like this. And if anyone's paying attention, my birthday is coming up in July, and I would very much like a bamf!John in uniform to show up on my doorstep about then. Only, you know, interested in women. :) ETA: Wait! I have it from abundantlyqueer directly that bamf!John is, in fact, bi. Be still my beating heart.

Psychophysical Examinations of Perceptual Effects of Differential Somatic Stimulation (or: Fuck Off And Leave My Bloody Balls Alone, Would You, Sherlock?) by jedusaur: THE TITLE. The title made me read it. It manages to be funny as hell and more than a little hot at the same time. So much geek there.

Title: "The Mystery of the Runaway Bride" (Chapter 6 & Epilogue)

Warnings: Spoilers through "A Scandal in Belgravia" and "The End of Time" (Doctor Who)
Summary: Donna Noble has had some troubling experiences that she's unable to explain. So she turns to the internet's most famous detective for help. Set between "A Scandal in Belgravia" and "The Hounds of Baskerville".
Author's Note: Huge thanks to [personal profile] eve_doodle for the comments and ideas. And for pointing out where I fell on my face. :)

Fic:

the sensation of falling as you just hit sleep by [personal profile] greywash: Still a WIP, but the writer updates like crazy. 50K words so far and I can't stop reading. Seriously. I get email that it's been updated, and I squeak. Dark, hard-hitting, and very TRUE-feeling post-Reichenbach. There are no kittens and hugs here, folks. Just lots of revenge and anger and human mistakes. It's rated NC-17, and the author IS NOT KIDDING about that.

Level 65 Paladin Looking for Group by etothepii: Yup, it's what you think it is. John and Sherlock meet while playing an MMORPG. It's insane, but it made me laugh.

Alone on the Water by Mad_Lori: Eeeeeeeeveryone has read this one, and if you haven't, you should. Someone gets a terminal illness, and all of fandom sobs. (I'm not kidding. Bring tissues.)

Five Stayed Behind by [personal profile] in_lighter_ink: One of the first Sherlock/Doctor Who crossovers that made me really happy. Five characters in the BBC Sherlock 'verse who turned down a chance to travel with the Doctor, and one who didn't.

the theory of narrative causality by anonymous: "Sherlock is a well-known fanartist whose online antics always land him on fandom_wank. John's a beloved BNF fanfiction author. They meet at a convention; geeky love ensues." It's pure meta CRACK. Seriously. I don't know that I've ever read anything more meta. But I laughed and laughed like a loon. Also NC-17 in places.

It's Raining Men on Baker Street by lotrfan2888: I just watched this for the first time, and it is PERFECT. And full of delicious eye candy.

Sherlock in Love by Deductism: Romcom trailer which may be considered canon in parts of the known universe. Someone on Tumblr called it "Sherlock as Manic Pixie Dream Detective". They're not wrong.

Almost done now, guys. If you read the earlier chapters, you might still want to read all of this, because a lot of stuff changed.

Chapter 2: In which there is flirting and blackmail. )

Chapter 3: In which bad things happen to good people. )

Chapter 4: In which several things become clear. )

Title: "Believe"
Rating: G
Word Count: 500
Warnings: Spoilers for Season 2. Also, Tumblr memes.
Summary: The first time he saw it, John Watson thought he was losing his mind. Just four little words, spray-painted on the side of St. Barts: I believe in Sherlock.

The woman at the door was ginger-beyond-ginger, about my height and age. Smartly dressed in suit and heels, as if she'd just come from the job at a posh office. She looked vaguely familiar, but I couldn't think from where. )
