First off, chapter 5 is off to the betas! Hoping to post this weekend.

Also: several folks asked about what happened when Sherlock spent the night in Irene’s room. This is… not that scene. But it is what happened the day after the mirror-writing at the end of Chapter 3, when Sherlock and Irene spent the morning together.

Written almost entirely at the behest of greywash, who wanted to see Sherlock and Irene being girlfriends. ;)

Summary: It’s the fall of 2000, and to help him out after his military career has ended due to injury, John Watson’s sister Harriet gets him a job as US tour manager for rising star of the industrial scene and enfant terrible, Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock’s not long out of rehab and there are plenty of doubts as to whether he’s serious about recovery. Plus, the music industry is shaking in its boots over the Napster mess. All John has to do is keep the money coming in and make sure his star doesn’t screw things up. After the army, that should be easy, right?

Yup. It's started. :)

Well, in case you missed it from what I've been writing lately, I've been reading a LOT of Sherlock/John slash. One thing each of these stories has in common is that it made me go weak in the knees. That's probably not all they have in common, but I'll leave what the other items are as an exercise for the reader. I could seriously rec more than this, but this will do for a start.

Stringplay, PrettyArbitrary. Author says: "John secretly plays fiddle. Sherlock and his violin seduce him into a threesome."

Lisa says: Sometimes I'll read things that make me literally dizzy with the hotness of them. This is one of those things. Actually, just go read all of PrettyArbitrary's stuff, it'll save me the trouble of listing them all out. There's humor and sex and feelings all over the place. (Be warned though: "Cross Wired" is disturbing as HELL. I take no responsibility for your brain if you find yourself getting turned on by it.)


in deed accomplish our designs, greywash. Author says: When I don't touch you it's a mistake in any life, in each place and forever. Set after and in the same universe as "the sensation of falling as you just hit sleep"; orders of magnitude more plotless and filthy. WIP.

Lisa says: She lies like a lying thing. There's a plot, and a good one too. Of course, this being the fabulous greywash, there's a lot of very explicit sex, but it's NOT typical fanfic sex. There're misunderstandings, things don't always work, and so on. Also a lot of John and Sherlock trying to negotiate what it actually means, now that they're in a relationship. She's brilliant, and I kind of hate her for it.


Performance in a Leading Role, Mad_Lori. Author says: Sherlock Holmes is an Oscar winner in the midst of a career slump. John Watson is an Everyman actor trapped in the rom-com ghetto. When they are cast as a gay couple in a new independent drama, will they surprise each other? Will their on-screen romance make its way into the real world?

Lisa says: OMG. Fluffy and beautiful and romantic and it SHOULD NOT WORK, but it does. And it's full of some serious meta about the film industry, which was fascinating. This is a fandom classic for a reason.


If Metal Had a Choice and The Overflow, anarmydoctor.

Author says: "If Metal Had a Choice": "Sherlock has his heart in the throat when he says Take my hand, and the metal of their handcuffs shines proud and thankful, because that’s the instant, that’s the second, that’s the reason why if metal had a choice, its choice would be now and here."

"The Overflow": "And sex, our sex, you and I having sex, is just the dirty negotiation between your pace and mine, between your flow and mine sharing the same track, and when that happens, when we converge, then we are stronger, mightier than ever, we are a torrent, and that’s the point of no return, the overflow."

Lisa says: anarmydoctor is a poet. Seriously. I have never read anyone who uses words the way she does. She claims it's because English is not her first language, and okay maybe. But still. Absolutely stunning. My only complaint is that I wish she wrote MORE.

I'm about two-thirds of the way through An Avalanche of Detour Signs by gyzym and it is just LOVELY. Molly Hooper is one of my favorite characters, and this novel-length fic is--so far--doing right by her. And pairing her with Lestrade in a heartbreaking and very realistic way. I do believe I've found my second ship. :)

A case has inserted itself into my angsty porn and is demanding solving. Now I want to know about the not-exsanguinated body, damn it!
